Bali started of as anoying, this thanks to a French couple who thought they owned and ruled the world. For example, 1. being an hour and a half late at the bus to go to Bali. Because of that 9 other travelers had to wait for them, and not even an apology or what so ever. 2. taking 6 places in a crowded bus while they were just with the two of them. 3. Smoking in the minibus, there is much more but i wont complain anymore. Lets just say that anti-social people are everywhere to be found.
But after this annoying start it was all good. Thanks to the advice of Sanne’s friend Guiguitte we stayed in Canggu for a couple of days to relax after the exhausting two days of trekking and climbing Mt. Bromo and Kawah Ijen. Canggu is not realy a city, its a surfer town that has four streets close to eachother. Here we saw one of the biggest waves we’ve ever seen. I wanted to go surfing here but after seeing those waves I have to admit, I got a little scared. So I just stayed on the beach with a beer and checked out how other surfers were catching waves. The nerves these guys and girls had, wow! that was awesome to see.
After this we went to Kuta. As you know Kuta is know for its surfing, relaxing on the beach and not to forget partying all night long every night. Sebas a friend of mine from springboard diving in Holland who is also on a worldtrip was still in Kuta and ofcourse we met up with him. Even better, we stayed in the same hostel as him. With him we did some surfing, some relaxing and ofcourse a lot of partying all night and every night.
It was realy cool to meet up with him, cause i hadnt seen him for over 13 months by now. And because Sebas already was in Kuta for two weeks, he showed us where to go. The place we had to go was Skygarden. This bar/lounge/discotheque had 5 floors where you could party. But if you went there around 17.00 oclock you could profit from the following deal. From 17.00 to 18.00 unlimited free beer. From 18.00 to 20.00 unlimited barbeque and from 21.00 to 22.00 unlimited free cocktails. And this only for 50.000 rupia (about €3,50). The best deal i have ever encountered on this whole trip so far.
After partying and surfing for 4 days straight, Sebas had to go. He went to Perth, Australia. We stayed a few nights extra and on these nights we partied as well and met two cool girls from Abu Dhabi. We called them the Shisha girls because all they wanted was smoke mint flavoured shisha.
After a week of partying in Kuta, it was time to move on and be adventures again. We are going to Flores to see Kelimutu. But more about that in our next post.
